Save videos from sites like Youtube without the use of any addons.

Update: This trick no longer works with youtube as youtube videos are now stored in the system temp folder and not the browsers cache, copying a file from the temp folder is not possible. It Still works for other video sites.

How to save videos from sites like Youtube,Google video,Metacafe,Dailymotion,Yahoo videos and Sharkle without any additional addon's to your browser or through online services?

The best way to save embeded video's without using any online service or browser extension(addons) is to extract them from your browser cache (the temporary storage of your browser) where they are stored when you access them through your browser ,this method works for most browsers and embedded content not just the videos, flash content like games can also be saved by this method.

Looking at the Post you may think that the procedure is very lengthy but I assure you once you know the steps it's just a few clicks.

1. The first step you need to take is to find where the browsers cache is located on your computer,it would placed deep down in your systems folder tree structure, for Instance here is the path for the location of the browsers cache on my computer C:\Documents and Settings\*your username*\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\0jevq2wn.default\Cache make sure that you have the show hidden folders option enabled because the folder would normally be hidden, the best way to get to it is to type "local settings" in Run without the quotes, click on OK and follow the rest of the path as shwon in the above example, you will be not able to see the application data folder if you don't have the show hidden folders option enabled.

Here is a Screen capture of my Firefox Browsers Cache

2. As you can see in the above snap shot of my cache there are no recognizable file extensions to the files present in the cache,You need to look for a recent file which is of several mb's as most videos would be, save it to a different location on your computer and rename it with a file extension of .flv at the end of the file name, you can now enjoy the saved video in any player which supports flv(flash video) like the FLV Player or VLC Player.

**Do not close the browser window until you have saved the video because as soon as you close the window the file would be wiped off from the browsers cache in most cases.**

For Opera users the browsers cache should be located in a location similar to the one shown here C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Application Data\Opera\opera\profile\cache4

For Internet Explorer users the browsers cache should be located in a location similar to the one shown here :C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Note: These files are normally hidden, you need to enable the Option of show hidden files and folders to be able to see them.

2 - Next, copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your own blog. If you’d like a different keyword for your blog then change it, when you do your post, and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword, provided the train keeps on spreading.

3 - Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.

4 - Add at least three new favourite blogs of yours to keep the train going, e-mail the blog owners (or comment on one of their posts) and insist that they post.

Logitech take's mouse of pad into air

Logitech Launches a exciting new wireless rechargeable mouse called MX Air, what is so special about it? well you can actually use it in the air to control the cursor on your pc ,which reminds me of the Nintendo's Wii game controller.

You can hold it in your hand like a remote controller of your tv (it's more accurate to compare it with the Nintendo Wii) and use the Gesture controls to flip through images on your computer or reduce or increase the volume by press holding the volume button and moving your hand to the right to increase volume and left to decrease the volume and skip a song during you listen to music by flipping your mouse in a circular motion to the right or repeat a song by flipping your wrist to the left, the scroll wheel on the mouse is replaced by a touch sensitive scroll panel which responds to the finger swipes on it and it has a operating range of 30 feet which is good enough to use it by laying down on your sofa in the living room.

Save images into specific folders with the following Addon for Firefox.

Organize your images easily into specific folders while you download them, saving a lot on your time and effort. You can Send them into your favorite folders with just a few clicks once you configure the addon without going through the time consuming default Save Image As folder structure, right from the contextual menu.

Double clicking on a Image in a web page would save the image in the folder that was last used by the addon without going through the contextual menu again.
You can even set it to overwrite a file with similar filename or increment the file name with a number and save it when there are files in that folder with a similar file name.

Tips to use Google Like a Pro. (Edited)

File sharing services like Rapidshare,Megaupload,Sendspace etc....... are a great place to find whatever stuff we are looking for but unfortunately these sites do not index the content that is stored on their servers for search but we can still search them using Google's search engine by adding advanced operators to the search string.

For Instance if you want to search for a file on Rapidshare all you need to do is to go to google and type the following without the quotes "site:rapidshare.com" or if you want to search Megaupload.com replace rapidshare.com with megaupload.com "site:megaupload.com" with the name of the file you want to search.

additionally you can also use the advanced operator "inurl" to search for files as rapidshare url consists of the file name:

For Music:
google: +inurl:wma|mp3|ogg site:rapidshare.com "file name"

For video files:

google: +inurl:avi|mpg|wmv| site:rapidshare.com

To see all archives and programs available...

google: +inurl:exe|rar|zip site:rapidshare.com

This will give you all files available...

google: .* site:rapidshare.com

Since most files are uploaded after being zipped searching for them with:

google: +inurl:rar|zip site:rapidshare.com will give you more results.

You can also search Torrents using google just type "filetype:torrent followed by the name of the file you want to search for, here is an example of a search that I made:

Ways to Make Firefox Go Lite on your system resources.

You can force Firefox to use a prefixed amount of your system memory(Ram) by the following tweak:

Type "about:config" in the browser address bar without the quotes and in the filter type “browser.cache” and search for “browser.cache.disk.capacity"

The default is set to 50000, right click on it and select modify

but you can change it , depending on how much memory you have on your computer or how much you want assign to. go for a number around 20000 if you have more than 512MB of ram on your PC.

Reduce RAM usage further for when Firefox is minimized. This setting will move Firefox to your hard drive when you minimize it, taking up much less memory. And there is no noticeable difference in speed when you restore Firefox, so it’s definitely worth a go.

Type "about:config" in the browser address bar without the quotes

Right click anywhere and click on New-> Boolean

Name it “config.trim_on_minimize” without the qoutes.

Toggle it to TRUE and restart Firefox for the settings to take effect.

HAPPY BROWSING.

Throttle your Firefox to load the webpages 3-4 times faster than normal

Normally a browser will make one request at a time to a webpage, by increasing the number of requests we make to a webpage we can Increase the speed at which the page loads, the following tweaks will let you achieve that.
Type “about:config” without the quotes into the address bar of your Firefox browser and hit Enter. Search for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Toggle network.http.pipelining and network.http.proxy.pipelining to true by right clicking on them and selecting toggle.

Modify network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to a number like 15 by right clicking on it and selecting modify and specifying the number, this means that it would make 15 requests of the webpage that you visit aiding in loading the webpage faster.

The following tweak will speed up Firefox by reducing the amount of time Firefox takes before displaying the information it receives.

Right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer

and name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay” without the quotes

and enter the integer value as “0”.

The Best of the Free Firewalls Available

As we know very well that prevention is better than cure, Installing a good firewall would protect the computer from the countless viruses, addware, malware that present out there from getting into your computer. There are a lot of free Firewalls available but which of them are the best, to find out I scouted around the web reading the reviews from a good number of sites and forums and comparing their results and came up with these :

The Best of the Free Firewalls available are:

1.Comodo Firewall Pro

2.ZoneAlaram.

Comodo Firewall Pro

My choice of the Best Firewall is Comodo, due to it's great looking and easy to use interface when compared to ZoneAlarm and it also contains features some of which are available only in zomeAlarm Pro which is the paid version, it recognizes hundreds of commonly used programs and configures access to them without you facing a barrage of popup's to allow access to the Internet from the applications on your computer which is also only available in ZoneAlarm pro, it's been ranked the best in most reviews and even comes ahead some of the premium firewalls.

ZoneAlarm

ZoneAlaram is also a quite effective firewall but lacks some of the features that Comodo offers for free has Issues with some antivirus software's.
