Let's say you have seen an Interesting image on the web and want to save it to your picasa web album or your flickr account so that you can share it with your friends easily or post it to your blog , your normal work flow would be to :
Save the Image to the computer--> open your picasa/flickr account --> upload the image to your account.
Instead of saving the images to your computer and then uploading you can directly upload the images from the web to your account by pasting the URL of the image that you want in place of the file name and upload.
This would download the image from the web to the browsers cache and upload it saving you from some extra steps and from the clutter on your hard disk.
